Welcome to the testimonials page for those athletes that have come and trained with us or worked with us on camps or clinics at Active at Altitude. We have been blessed to have had a number of world class athletes grace our lodge - read what they have to say about our unique lodge:
Tera Moody - US marathon runner - 5th place US 08 Olympic trials - 2nd place US runner in 09 World Champs
"Visiting active at altitude was such a unique experience. Terry and Jaqui made us feel extremely
welcome from the moment we walked in. Even
just coming up from Boulder it feels like another
world. Its very quiet and peaceful with amazing
mountain views. Active at altitude provides a great
atmosphere for relaxation and focusing on training or
just enjoying yourself in the mountains. I would
recommend it to both athletes and people just looking to get away."
Liz Yelling - GB elite athlete - Athens & Beijing Olympian & CWG 2006 bronze medallist
"We are both really keen to support Jacqui and Terry in their creation of a center for endurance athletes where they can go and train in a home from home environment within the supportive, professional and stunning Active at Altitude facility and the Boulder environs. It doesn't matter what level of fitness or performance you are, Active at Altitude is a great place to focus, train hard, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors. We'll be recommending it to all our friends."
Adam Chase - Trail and adventure runner - President of ATRA; Trail editor of Running Times
"Active at Altitude is a perfect launch pad for training at altitude. The views from Terry and Jacqui's warm accommodations are inspiring and it is easy to get to trailheads, whether in Estes Park or RMNP.
The best part of the Active at Altitude experience however, is the atmosphere and tone that Terry and Jacqui set with their hospitable and relaxed attitude, inviting all into a family-like setting so that everyone soon finds themselves both at ease and able to enjoy their fellow participants. It makes the whole experience a joy and allows you to focus on your running and learning so that you come away with so much more."
Lisa Goldsmith - USATF Masters Mountain Runner of the year 2005, 06, & 07
"Boy, you know, I hope MANY folks find their way to Active at Altitude! What a great concept. It seems the atmosphere can be as formal or informal as the athletes want it to be. To be able to 'get away' to an incredible playground of training opportunities and come home to home cooked meals and comfortable accommodations seems quite a deal! Terry Chiplin is ready to help take your training and way of thinking about your training and racing to a new level! If nothing else, here is an opportunity to have your days revolve around your training and 'taking care of yourself.' What a valuable and even life changing experience this 'training vacation' can have for any level athlete!"
Kathleen Allen - Team USA triathlete and 2 time winner of Tri for the Cure
"Probably the most important aspect of my training is my ability to listen to my body. Yes, I have a coach and he schedules workouts but I also have to know when my body is ready to push harder, go faster, or when my body needs to rest and recover.
Unlike traditional "training camps" where there is a group that follows the same workout schedule, Active at Altitude provides "a-la-carte" training. You can do as much or as little as you like and you can cater the training based on your own abilities and your body's strengths and limitations. At the end of the day once training is done, Active at Altitude provides a home away from home type experience. Terry and Jacqui provided a very personal environment and have become my friends. Their facility and concept are truly unique and will become a training mecca. The weekend at Active at Altitude boosted my performance capacity and enabled me t win the Tri for the Cure event. I will be returning to Active at Altitude for another intense training weekend next season. "
Julia Purrington - Team USA triathlete and tri-coach; owner of TriBal Training
"Our weekend of training at Active at Altitude has proved to be one of the best and most productive training sessions of my career. Terry and Jacqui made sure that we were well supported nutritionally and gave us direction on some great areas to train. Terry's advice and coaching on my running and mental training have been invaluable. I look forward to making at least yearly trips to Active at Altitude. THANKS TERRY!"
Tanya Poel - Colorado Runner Masters Womens Athlete 2006 & 2007
"If you are a serious athlete and you want to train hard at high altitude, the Active at Altitude house is the place for you. If you a recreational athlete and you want to improve your sport in a relaxed setting, the Active at Altitude house is for you. And, if you just want to get away from it all and enjoy the beautiful Rocky Mountains, the Active at Altitude house has all that you need. It provides a home away from home setting unlike anything a hotel or motel could offer. Owner Terry Chiplin can do everything from cook great home made meals, coach and participate in workouts with athletes, and provide transportation to RMNP. Terry's wife Jacqui can also provide a massage at the end of the active day! I know all of this because recently I participated in a women's running weekend and all of this and more was offered to the attendees. Check it out for yourself and take the drive up to Estes Park to see the Active at Altitude house. I highly recommend it"
